Counselling
Sandy Balascak, an experienced educator, mental health advocate, and integrationist, is now available as an intern counsellor through Promentality Performance and Wellness. With a deep passion for trauma-informed care, Sandy specializes in helping individuals navigate challenges and build resilience.
As someone who grew up in a time when counselling was often stigmatized, Sandy understands the barriers many face when seeking support. She recognizes the lasting impact that trauma can have on everyday life and is committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space for healing.
Sandy’s approach to therapy is highly personalized, drawing on tools and concepts from multiple modalities to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. Her qualifications include certifications in DBT Level 2 and Relational Practices, as well as advanced coursework in Ethical Standards, Couples & Family Systems, and Theories in Counselling. Sandy has also developed and taught university-level courses, such as Healing the Roots of Trauma and Building Resilience, which explored the impact of trauma, isolation, and “pandemental” health issues, while incorporating Indigenous knowledge and practices. Additionally, she has led workshops for professionals on trauma-informed care, equipping them with tools to better support individuals facing mental health challenges.
In addition to one-on-one, in-person counselling, Sandy has experience facilitating therapy groups, further enriching her ability to support clients in diverse settings. Whether you’re seeking support for trauma recovery, mental health challenges, or personal growth, her skills will help guide you on your journey.
